GTS employs qualified Arborists to prune your trees in accordance with Australian Standards, this ensures your trees are maintained to the highest standards. Healthy trees live longer and will add aesthetic value to the landscape.
Appropriate pruning will reduce the possibility of damage from extreme weather conditions and the spread of disease. GTS follows best practise in accordance with Australian Standards. We believe appropriate pruning of juvenile trees will deliver mature trees of better quality.
Large tree removals is our speciality. This can be a complex exercise requiring the help of our experienced and highly skilled team. GTS doesn’t support tree removals needlessly, but there are times when trees become dangerous and have to be removed, such as…
Tree lopping is a misleading practice which is contrary to Australian Standards. In the past ‘tree lopping’ was a common practice to reduce the overall height of the tree. Lopping in this way produces epicormic growth with weak points of attachment. This results in very high risk of limb failure. Our service includes giving out a detailed explanation about the dangers of this type of pruning. However, if the tree has already been lopped, we have no choice but to repeat the practice. We continue to maintain lopped trees to prevent damage and ensure the safety of the public.
In accordance with standard industry specifications we grind stumps to 300mm below existing ground level. However, we can undertake a ‘deep grind’ if required to meet your specific requirements. Stump grinding should be left to the experts, as it not only requires skill and training but also specialist tools and heavy equipment to ensure efficient service in a timely manner. Access to the stump is the biggest challenge we face and this can increase the costs and time to complete the task.
Accurately identifying the locating of tree roots allows GTS to make evidence-based decisions for our clients to guide construction work around swimming pools, buildings and commercial infrastructure. GTS has qualified arborists and we follow proper industry guidelines with specialised equipment to provide different kinds of root barrier solutions. We can interpret the findings and prepare reports to guide design in proximity-retained trees, prepare impact assessment reports verifying existing designs, or identify the design or construction modifications required to preserve retained trees.
GTS has 2 staff that are Cert 5 qualified. We are qualified to provide our clients with Arboricultural Consultant Tree reports and surveys. Arboricultural reports are aligned with ISA Certified guidelines and Quantified Tree Risk Assessment (QTRA).
Our services can provide:
GTS implements the Australian Standard AS4970-2009, the Protection of Trees on Development Sites. The Tree Protection Zone (TPZ) and the Structural Root Zone (SRZ) is the calculation used to protect trees on development sites, this protection is for both the rootszone and the crown of the tree. GTS arborists can install the barriers required to implement the TPZ and SRZ to isolate the tree and protect it from construction impacts. We consider this area to be essential for tree health and stability. GTS has a track record of never loosing a tree while maintaining a TPZ.
GTS has extensive expertise and experience in installing and maintaining professional tree cabling and bracing systems. Cabling and Bracing is normally undertaken on mature trees with high amenity value. We install these systems to help prevent damage to the tree during extreme weather conditions. The procedure is entirely non-invasive. The old practice of drilling steel pylons and tunnelling cables through the trunk of the tree causes more damage than prevention. GTS crews will install the brace in the tree without damaging it, assisting the tree instead of working against it.
GTS has extensive experience in vegetation management in Public Open Space for both Local and State government agencies. The long-term management of trees is undertaken in accordance with Australian Standard 4373 (2007) - Pruning of Amenity Trees. This work often includes Public Parks, the road network and sites impacted by a wide range of activities including new civil projects, agriculture, alien weed control, urban development and natural erosion. On the road network we prune to the specifications of Main Roads WA to ensure the line of sight for vehicles and overhead road clearance to meet specifications, this contributes to the safety of road users.
GTS is qualified and experienced to prune vegetation away from both High and Low Voltage powerlines. All powerline pruning at GTS is conducted in accordance with the Office of Energy Safety Code of Practice for “Personnel Electrical Safety for Vegetation Control Work Near Live Powerlines” and AS4373-2007. GTS crews have all the necessary Powerline Safety qualifications required to prune your tree away from powerlines. All our EWP’s working near powerlines are insulated and meet timely compliance as per the code of practice in WA.
This is a very technical area of arboriculture, requiring forward planning to prepare the tree in advance of the relocation. In addition we can design specific maintenance regimes to assist the tree through the stress of the move.
Many different species and sizes of trees and palms can be successfully transplanted but the requirements escalate with the maturity of the plant, as does the size of equipment involved such as cranes and excavators. GTS crew members are very skilled in this area of arboriculture.
Trees can be negatively affected by changing environmental factors, age, and attack from insects, pathogens and other factors. These negative impacts will cause the tree health to decline. GTS is trained to create a comprehensive plan to reverse the decline in the health of the tree, this can include undertaking systemic nutrient injection into the vascular tissue. If done in time the delivery of vital nutrients can help the tree reach its full potential.
GTS understands that the identification of pathogen and insect pest problems and their treatment is of utmost importance to maintain optimum plant health. GTS arborists are trained to use the latest guidelines and diagnostic techniques. Our qualified arborists collect and analyse plant tissue and soil samples every year to ensure accurate diagnosis and treatment regimes.
When tree health problems arise, early and accurate identification is an essential step in pest and disease management. Pest infestations can quickly reach damaging levels if neglected or improperly diagnosed. However, not all insects are harmful to your plants – some beneficial insects can help control pest insect populations. GTS has a team of arborists who are skilled in pest identification and disease diagnosis and can advise on management options tailored to provide solutions.
GTS, sometimes has free mulch available as a community service. The mulch is available only on the day the chipper is making ‘that dreadful noise’ in your area. Our trucks have signs that yell out “FREE MULCH TODAY”. So, if you happen to see the sign, be the early bird and get the mulch delivered for free. The mulch is on a ‘first come - first serve basis’, so please do not defame us on social blogs if you are unlucky - because there is always a next time.
GTS, unfortunately doesn't have superheroes that can fly and rescue cats stuck up in a tree. But, if you find yourself in an emergency because a tree has fallen on your house, car or other infrastructure on your property, contact GTS to help you with the problem. GTS is fully insured and we have a qualified crew that can help when a tree decides to disrupt your life.
GTS has over two decades of experience in providing services in Conservation areas, Coastal reserves and Natural bushland for State and Local Government Agencies. This work includes maintaining existing firebreak clearances and sometimes creating new ones in difficult and steep terrain. GST has also undertaken works to help restrict European House borer and implemented alien weed control programs. We have also used our Elevated Work Platforms to build Osprey nesting sites on metal platforms. This experience has made us purchase and develop a fleet of vehicles and machinery to undertake this difficult work. We often require the use of four wheel trucks dragging chippers though steep terrain and soft sand. GTS is experienced in meeting and following the requirements of clearing permits and the washing of equipment and machinery to prevent the spread of pathogens between sites.
With our extensive experience and service techniques, GTS provides the best service, safety and the latest sustainable methodology to bring our clients superior results in arboriculture services.
